Print 09 Proved to be a Great Success for Xeikon

Printing Pioneers sold multiple digital color presses and produced unmatched quantities of digital color application pieces at the show

Itasca, IL, September 16, 2009 - Xeikon (www.xeikon.com), a division of Punch Graphix, legendary for pioneering the first digital color presses, today announced that the company had an extremely successful Print 09 conference. In addition to selling multiple digital color presses at the conference, Xeikon once again proved that its products and technologies are unparalleled in terms of their productivity and reliability in the high volume digital color production space.

The company demonstrated its flagship digital color press, the Xeikon 8000, at booth #2529. To promote its corporate partnership with Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and The Jimmy Fund for the upcoming 2009 Holiday Greetings program, the Xeikon 8000 printed real-time examples of greeting cards. These cards were converted inline with a full-fledged finishing unit capable of UV-coating, super-glossing, die-cutting, stacking and batching capabilities. The Xeikon 8000 produced more than 60,000 greeting cards during the first two days of the conference. To demonstrate the versatility and flexibility of Xeikon digital color solutions, the production configuration generating the greeting cards was also utilized to produce pocket folders. More than 25,000 of these 19" wide by 22" long pocket folders were produced in less than three days at the conference.

The Xeikon 8000 also produced unique, fully variable TransPromo application pieces during the conference. These pieces were treated with the Xeikon Web Finishing Module, a unit that applies an invisible silicone oil/wax/water emulsion to increase scratch/scuff resistance of the printed pieces, minimize substrate curling and eliminate static for hassle-free post print processing. In regards to the TransPromo application, Xeikon also demonstrated its IDPS controller for processing AFP/IPDS input data streams. Attendees were able to see how the Xeikon IPDS Controller enables its digital color presses to be fully integrated in a transactional/TransPromo workflow.

According to Michael V. Ring, Vice President of Sales and Chief Marketing Officer of Xeikon's North American operations, "We are thrilled with the attendee response we received at the Print 09 conference. Companies producing a broad range of applications, such as book printing and publishing, print-on-demand, and labels/packaging made the decision, at Print 09, to invest in Xeikon technology. Our new and existing customers are finding that the unique capabilities of our technology provide sustainable competitive advantages to our users across different market segments. We are extremely pleased that we were able to create additional awareness around the cancer research fundraising efforts of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and The Jimmy Fund. Their team is doing a phenomenal job in supporting cancer research and deserves all the attention it can get."

The label and packaging area on the Xeikon booth, complete with high impact samples produced on its award-winning Xeikon 3300 digital label press, also attracted significant attention. Attendees were impressed with the imaging quality, productivity and eco-friendliness of the 3300.
