Pitney Bowes Awarded Federal Print and Mail Contract in Belgium

Windsor, UK, 11th May 2011:  The Federal Public Service of Finance (SPFF) in Belgium has awarded Pitney Bowes part two of the FedoPress project which aims to completely replace their existing print and mail facility located in Brussels.

Two Pitney Bowes IntelliJet™ 20 Printing Systems will replace the existing monochrome toner based systems to allow full colour transactional documents to be produced on white paper rather than depending on pre-printed base stationary.

The inserting of the transactional documents will be performed on three Pitney Bowes Mailstream Productivity Series Inserters equipped with the Print+ Messenger™ Colour Inkjet System that delivers dynamic full colour envelope printing. Pitney Bowes will also supply a stand-alone version of its Print+ Messenger full colour envelope printing system to provide ‘print on demand’ envelopes for the graphical material.

The work produced today on a number of traditional offset printers will migrate to the IntelliJet 20 Printing Systems with additional high quality cut sheet print being produced on two HP Indigo units. The graphical production equipment to be supplied by Pitney Bowes will also include print finishing such as folders, guillotines and binders.

Pitney Bowes file-based processing combined with Pitney Bowes workflow and process software and P/I™ Output Manager will form the basis of the new transactional ADF architecture.  Pitney Bowes will also build the bridge between this and the Heidelberg PriNect graphical Automated Document Factory (ADF) system to provide a complete control environment.

Jürgen Küpper, Vice President of Pitney Bowes Document Messaging Technologies says “This is a very exciting project and a significant investment by SPFF in Pitney Bowes technology and expertise. We have invested heavily in developing products, software and a solid project management infrastructure to support these types of programs. Pitney Bowes will keep working closely with SPFF to ensure to deliver the right solution and we eagerly anticipate the ‘go live’ date of 1st January 2012.”
