Océ Extends Productivity of Océ VarioPrint 6000 Ultra Family with New Hybrid MICR Models

High-speed hybrid digital perfecting systems offer exceptional versatility

TRUMBULL, CT March 17, 2011Océ, an international leader in digital document management and delivery, today announced the Océ VarioPrintâ 6000 MICR Line for printing both standard and magnetic ink character recognition (MICR) documents on one hybrid cut-sheet platform.

“For years, print professionals relied on dedicated MICR devices to produce checks and other negotiable documents. Today, our focus is on flexible solutions that balance fast, secure MICR printing with the versatility to do more with one machine. The Océ VarioPrint 6000 MICR Line of hybrid digital perfecting systems meets all those requirements and will provide customers flexibility and cost optimization. We are pleased to announce three models: the Océ VarioPrint 6160 MICR, 6200 MICR and the 6250 MICR systems,” said Eric DeGoeijen, Vice President, Product Marketing, Océ Production Printing Systems.

Round the Clock Productivity

The Océ VarioPrint 6000 Ultra MICR system handles the diverse challenges of MICR, books, transactional and reprographic jobs with a single solution. Unlike dedicated MICR devices that sit idle when not printing checks, the versatile Océ VarioPrint 6000 MICR Line can stay busy around the clock. Users can print applications like payroll, balance transfer, refund and convenience checks at night and then use the same engine to print books, booklets, manuals, invoices, statements, direct mail, policies and other standard duplex jobs by day.

“There’s a significant advantage in not having to purchase, run and maintain separate devices for check printing and regular applications. With a hybrid solution like the Océ VarioPrint MICR system, users can take on more work, offer more services and maximize their printing resources,” said Dave Erlandson, General Manager at PODi, the digital printing initiative.

Océ PRISMA Software Automation Handles Job Diversity

The Océ VarioPrint 6000 MICR printer teams with Océ PRISMA® software for transaction, as well as commercial print applications to accelerate and streamline workflow from composition through printing, finishing and distribution. The Océ PRISMAsync™ controller handles jobs from a variety of workflows, retaining job ticket settings and media attributes. True convergence printers, Océ VarioPrint 6000 MICR systems can handle native IPDS and legacy applications and switch to on-demand publishing jobs.

Personalized communications can become profitable opportunities without changing existing workflow.

Solid MICR Experience, Security and Quality

Highly sensitive negotiable documents like checks require uncompromised security and tight production windows. The output must be readable by bank equipment at high speeds with near-perfect reliability, so flawless MICR quality is essential for transactional, insurance, transpromo and other documents involving check images.

Building on a tradition of innovation in MICR and transactional environments, Océ offers a broad, advanced portfolio of MICR solutions, from cut-sheet and continuous feed electro-photographic systems to high-speed, full-color inkjet systems. All systems are backed by Océ’s years of experience offering printing applications with security demands and sensitive content.

The Océ VarioPrint 6000 Ultra family combines all the attributes needed for a total MICR/standard solution. Patented Océ Copy Press technology and the Océ Gemini print engine make quality extremely stable. In addition to productivity, quality, reliability and secure MICR printing on one platform, the Océ VarioPrint 6000 Ultra family offers:

·   Near-offset quality

·   Scalable performance at 160, 190 and 234  duplex prints per minute

·   Monthly duty cycles of up to 7.5 million prints

·   Industry leading reliability

Security Features Protect Transaction Documents

The new Océ MICR systems meet MICR demands for security, accuracy and quality. Features such as micro-font printing assure no information is lost and no checks are double-printed. Optional camera-based verification manages the integrity and reprinting of MICR documents without impacting speed or productivity. Checks are processed through high-speed, highly accurate readers/sorters, while near-perfect registration ensures precise check printing. Paper Logic technique ensures media is properly loaded to match desired output, minimizing errors and reprints.

Small Footprint, Big Eco Advantage

Océ VarioPrint 6000 MICR systems use paper, toner and energy economically, provide a low level of energy consumption, and occupy a smaller footprint than configurations combining multiple systems to print both traditional and MICR output.

Investment protection with Built-in Scalability

For investment protection, scalability is built into every Océ VarioPrint 6000 MICR model. Systems are scalable in speed, processing power and additional capabilities, providing a growth path to higher performance – without purchasing another system or training operators on different equipment.

Temporary Speed Options

The need for higher speed is not always permanent. With the unique Océ SpeedPass program, users can temporarily ramp up for peak periods or unexpected volumes and dial back when the crunch is over. Users can accelerate short-term productivity and profits without long-term financial commitment.

The Océ VarioPrint 6000 MICR line is available for immediate delivery.
