Océ Executive Presents Security Printing Technologies for Digital Press Applications at IMI Conference

Guy Broadhurst offers insights into extending data security into the printing process

TRUMBULL, CONN. November 3, 2011 – Océ, a Canon Group company and an international leader in digital document management, announced that Guy Broadhurst, Vice President of New Technologies and Client Development, Océ North America Production Printing Systems division, will present at the IMI 2011 Security Printing Conference November 16-18.The conference is sponsored by the Information Management Institute, Inc.

On Friday, November 18 at 8:30 AM, Broadhurst leads off Session 4: Do New Security Printing Techniques Offer Economically Viable Solutions? His presentation, "Security Printing Technologies for Digital Press Applications," covers these topics:
  • Security requirements, issues and options
  • Incorporating security features that meet and exceed requirements into digital press products
  • Application requirements and implementation scenarios
    • Full-color variable data with embedded security features
    • Check printing
    • Secure examination printing

  • Security printing trends
Broadhurst Comments on Secure Production Printing Environments
With the rising incidence of fraud, identity theft and counterfeiting, it’s critical to protect all kinds of documents against unauthorized reproduction or misuse. This need extends beyond checks to include applications like tickets, passports, ID badges, prescription pads, high-value coupons, cross-border documents and birth certificates. Server firewalls and other security barriers usually protect company data until it reaches the printing process.

Producing sensitive documents demands the highest levels of quality and security. Océ has a number of ways to help customers address these concerns in printing environments. Broadhurst recently spoke about some of the factors involved in achieving secure production printing environments:

Printing secure documents on demand eliminates the costs and risks of pre-printing forms on expensive security paper stock and then storing and transporting preprinted checks and other documents that can be damaged or stolen. By replacing a complex, multi-step process with a single, on-demand, plain-paper-in/secure-finished-document-out process, you can streamline your production environment.

Check printing is a key application for secure document printing, and Océ is a member of the Check Payment Systems Association (CPSA), which sets standards for document security and publishes security feature requirements. Océ offers a range of check printing security features that meet criteria set forth by the industry’s leading standards organization, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

As a leader in secure printing solutions, Océ helps customers produce safer, more secure, high-quality business-critical documents. Océ has a tradition of innovation and leadership in transactional and MICR printing, coupled with Check Payment Systems Association (CPSA) certification and a full range of hardware, software and security innovations.

For years, adding security features like pantographs, prismatic designs and holograms involved creating pre-printed forms on secure paper on offset presses – a costly, resource-intensive undertaking. Digital security features offer a level of security equivalent or superior to those used in traditional offset-printed security papers and documents – without the associated labor and costs.

Océ digital printing solutions offer a full range of anti-copy, anti-fraud security features as protection against counterfeiting, fraud and reproduction. Versatile high-speed color inkjet technologies like the Océ JetStream® platform, enable secure document printing that is fast, efficient and cost-effective.
