Océ Enhances Power of Océ PRISMA Workflow Software with Wide Range of New Capabilities

New solutions focus on improving business efficiencies and expanding customer opportunities

Chicago, IL – October 3, 2010 – Océ, an international leader in digital document management and delivery, announced that Océ PRISMA® workflow software continues to expand and evolve in response to customer needs and market opportunities. The result is a number of new product announcements providing capabilities to address the latest market requirements for automation, integration and enhancing overall functionality.

Continuous Improvement Keeps Océ PRISMA Software in Demand
"Continuous improvement backed by world-class service and technical support has been a hallmark of the Océ workflow software strategy. Our Graph Expo announcements support the entire workflow process, from document design to electronic proofing to production management and integration. As a result, users in both the graphic arts and the transaction markets can deliver more applications with greater flexibility, cost efficiencies, and revenue maximization," said Eric DeGoeijen, Vice President, Marketing, Océ North America, Production Printing Systems.

Automation for Smarter Productivity
Automated, end-to-end Océ PRISMA workflow software eliminates costs and manual labor for graphic arts operations, transactional print providers, direct mail marketers and others that depend on workflow. Print providers can maximize margins, improve business efficiencies and open up new revenue generating opportunities.

Along with Océ PRISMAproduction® output management software, the Océ On Demand Publishing Solution automates book printing and reprints through a batch, barcode, and scanning process. Customers can streamline the digital book print and reprint process from order entry through shipping and delivery. With automation in place, jobs start and finish on time with less waste and downtime, minimizing production costs while maximizing revenue.

Océ PRISMAproduction software and the Electronic Forms Replacement application eliminate the need for pre-printed paper. Customers realize significant cost savings by reducing stored inventory, warehouse space, paper roll changes and waste. With this added functionality, customers can now run multiple jobs on a single paper roll, resulting in greater flexibility, higher levels of product reliability and uptime and improved productivity.

Integration for Seamless Communication
As JDF and JMF adoption accelerates, enhanced Océ PRISMAproduction JDF/JMF capabilities enable greater connectivity to front-end order entry systems, both Océ and non-Océ print engines, and support for a wider range of post-processing devices. With JDF/JMF integration, Océ PRISMAproduction software provides a solid foundation as a centralized production management solution enhancing the print process automation with greater flexibility.

The Océ PRISMAproduction Executive Workflow module provides the next level of integration between each phase of print production. With an open interface that supports connectivity to a wide array of order entry, accounting, logistics, inventory, shipping and order processing systems, customers can reduce costs to maximize revenue potential. Customers can validate and test production integration from start to finish and eliminate errors before producing the job. As a result, customers can save time, money and labor, while achieving smoother workflow across the enterprise.

Designing for Successful Integrated Marketing and Multi-Channel Communication
The use of personalized variable text and imaging, along with integrated marketing and new delivery methods has fueled demand for multi-channel communication. When done well, these campaigns deliver stronger impact, higher response rates and consistent corporate branding. In addition, re-engineering of legacy applications for colorization, rebranding and barcode manipulation is increasingly in demand to meet today’s regulatory and integrated marketing requirements. Versatile, robust document composition software like Océ PRISMA workflow software is essential in developing effective variable printing applications that fully leverage the capabilities of today’s digital printers and provide consistent corporate branding for multi-channel communication. It also allows easier updating of legacy applications for more strategic purposes.

New Océ PRISMAdesignerTM software provides innovative document design and composition, along with data stream support to enable collaborative workflows, object-oriented variable document design, and enrichment of legacy applications. The solution covers the full spectrum of document composition, from template creation and interactive applications to post-composition tasks.

The object-based software uses a central repository for easier collaboration and maintenance of document resources. The common platform simplifies document design, accelerates application development, centralizes management of common features and allows crossover applications.

Relying on a centralized and integrated architecture, the "all in one" approach offers a unique set of functionalities, which can be combined as needed. Océ PRISMAdesigner software features a single environment for all the steps of the document generation value chain, from data acquisition to print- or electronic-ready files delivery. Within this common environment are three functional modules based on the same user interface:
  • Document Composition provides template design and print-ready files as a batch process.
  • Interactive Composition allows on-demand interactive and personalized documents for kiosk solutions, customer support and other applications.
  • Post-Composition for re-engineering print-ready files. It supports stream conversion and normalization, document re-engineering, correcting and re-formatting applications, index creation, bar coding, automated inserting and transpromo messaging.
Océ PRISMAdesigner software empowers businesses through cost-reduction, improved customer care and retention, transpromo communications, tighter brand integrity, and regulatory compliance. Customers in financial services, telecom, insurance, utilities, manufacturing, logistics and many other segments gain sophisticated document composition for their transactional, transpromo and integrated, multi-communication marketing communications.

Enhanced Functionality for More Opportunities
Several other Océ PRISMA products now have new functionality to help print providers maximize their productivity and profitability:
  • New Océ TrueProof® Version 4.04 electronic viewing software offers unique "pixel counting" and other enhancements to help graphic arts providers achieve more accurate job planning and costing. Pixel counting allows customers to determine virtually how much toner or ink is involved in getting each pixel onto a page. Print providers get a clear picture of inkjet or toner consumables that will be used, both per page and for the whole job saving them time, money and resources.
  • Océ PRISMAaccessTM v5.1 software adds new capabilities for controlling costs through budget approval and quota management, while integration with Microsoft Outlook and Océ PRISMAarchiveTM software further solidifies it as an end-to-end printshop solution from submission to archiving.
  • Océ PRISMAprepareTM v5.1 software enhances tab creation beyond duplexed three-line tabs to new possibilities such as full bleed tabs. Simple to program, the software offers application flexibility and, the opportunity to eliminate special tab stock. Additionally, image make ready now incorporates color management. Whether creating a personalized color palette or using the integrated Pantone® and HKS color palette library, pre-press personnel can confidently meet customer expectations for color quality, accuracy and consistency.
