First Installation in ACT of Worlds Fastest Digital Perfecting System

First installation in ACT of worlds fastest digital perfecting system

CanPrint Communications in the ACT has expanded its digital cut sheet-fed division with the acquisition of an Océ VarioPrint 6320 Gemini digital press for its Fyshwick plant.

The Océ VarioPrint 6320 joins a powerful digital fleet at CanPrint, comprising an Océ VarioStream web-fed press, an Océ VarioStream 2110, an Océ 9160 and two Océ CS650 colour printers.

The new press is now printing up to 1.5 million impressions a month and is equipped with a BLM bookletmaker to handle short run books and manuals. Managing Director of CanPrint, David Daniel, says the new perfecting press vastly expands the capabilities of the company’s digital division in the face of growing demand.

“More than 90% of CanPrint’s black and white cut sheet output is double-sided, so the Océ VarioPrint 6320, with its ability to print instant duplex, was an obvious fit into our lineup,” David Daniel says.

“The new press was also a natural match for us given our preference for Océ equipment across the group, and it also fits in well with its best-in-class speed and quality of output, particularly in printing halftones. As we print a significant amount of work for the Federal Government, the quality of our output is crucial to our operation. In this regard we have found Océ equipment to be the best on the market.”

CanPrint is a member of the OPUS Print Group, one of Asia Pacific’s largest specialist print groups. The Group employs more than 400 staff and comprises of six separate printing companies in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. In terms of digital print technology, OPUS operates a virtually all-Océ fleet across both its Professional & Educational Division and its Government Division.
