Océ Announces Next Generation of Award-Winning Océ VarioPrint 6000 Family

Customers benefit from workflow interoperability, sustainability and productivity enhancements

September 10, 2007, Chicago, Illinois – Océ, a global leader in digital document management and delivery, announces the next generation of its award-winning Océ VarioPrint® family, the industry’s most productive single-pass digital duplex printers. The latest version of this unique product line offers significant advancements in workflow management and interoperability, sustainability and productivity. Demonstrating the Océ commitment to investment protection, the "next generation" capabilities are available as a software upgrade for all VarioPrint 6000 printers, including current customers.

"With this new generation, we continue building on the success of the award-winning Océ VarioPrint 6250," said Jan Dix, Executive Vice President, Océ Digital Document Systems. "The latest release of this revolutionary product family features numerous enhancements that help our customers further improve productivity to take their businesses beyond the ordinary."

Expanded Interoperability Complements Workflow Automation
With newly expanded workflow automation and interoperability capabilities, workflow can be structured for maximum productivity. Customers can direct existing applications to an Océ VarioPrint 6000 system without workflow interruption or reprogramming, enabling Océ systems to easily co-exist with or replace other systems in mixed environments. A new PDL and job ticket architecture offers a wider range of PDL/ticket combinations, and extended ticket support contributes to more effortless workflow. Customers gain versatility to organize print production based on scheduling and customer requirements. Users can define up to 10 customized print queues, and multiple jobs can be bundled and printed as one set.

Environmental Sustainability Remains a Strong Focus
Environmental sustainability has been a defining philosophy at Océ for more than 50 years, and the company remains committed to reducing ozone, dust and toner emissions and minimizing waste and to improving working conditions for operators. The Océ VarioPrint 6000 family is the most recent example of sustainable Océ products. With Océ Gemini Instant Duplex printing and efficient single-pass technology, paper, toner and energy are used more economically in Océ VarioPrint 6000 printers. The high level of productivity of the Océ VarioPrint 6250 system enables consolidation of installed devices and provides significant advantages, either as a standalone device or in groups of devices.

Compared to major installations of competitive cut-sheet duplex systems, the Océ VarioPrint 6250 system consumes up to 45 percent less energy to print than competitive cut-sheet systems, helping customers save thousands of dollars per year in energy costs. With Océ Gemini Instant Duplex technology, VarioPrint systems emit only a fraction of the ozone of comparable high-volume cut-sheet devices. The printers do not require a toner waste bottle, as they efficiently use all available toner, eliminating waste and its environmental impact. As an ENERGY STAR partner, Océ is deeply committed to products that meet the program’s guidelines, and the next-generation Océ VarioPrint 6000 products are fully ENERGY STAR compliant with wattage actually 35 percent below ENERGY STAR requirements.

Enhancements Drive Greater Productivity and Usability
Known for its user-friendly operation, the Océ VarioPrint 6000 family now includes enhancements to drive productivity even further. A 60,000-sheet roll feeder boosts input capacity, while a third high-capacity stacker brings output capacity to a maximum of 22,000 sheets, further extending the platform’s reputation for heavy duty production and long periods of unattended printing.

Operators and managers gain better queue management and real time production status via remote view through a PC or handheld device. Another example of improved usability is that the Océ VarioPrint 6000 family has adopted the award-winning Océ-developed OCEAN Interface with its intuitive information and system management. The highly intuitive operation is more accessible to operators of all skill levels.

The Océ VarioPrint 6000 family contains several features that comply with the requirements of Section 508 and make the equipment and digital technology easier to use and more accessible to people with disabilities. These features include components like screens and stackers that can accommodate different height requirements and devices that can automate certain physical tasks, such as emptying the stacker.

The next generation VarioPrint 6000 versions are expected to be available in November 2008.
