Leading Healthcare Organizations Embrace
Business Performance Solutions from PeopleSoft

Enterprise Performance Management Enables
Healthcare Organizations to More Effectively Manage Resources

AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 19, 2003--At its ninth annual Healthcare Industry User Group conference, PeopleSoft, Inc. (Nasdaq: PSFT) today announced that more than 20 leading healthcare providers have licensed PeopleSoft's performance management solutions during the past year. PeopleSoft's Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) applications, including Enterprise Scorecard, Activity-Based Management, Business Planning and Budgeting and Enterprise Warehouse, provide healthcare managers a complete view of their enterprise to analyze and track performance in real time. As a result, organizations can rapidly align operations with strategic goals and adapt quickly to change.

Healthcare customers licensing PeopleSoft EPM solutions include: Valley Baptist Health System, El Camino Hospital, Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Memorial Sloan-Kettering, OSF HealthCare System, St. Joseph Health System, and St. Luke's Episcopal Health System.

Valley Baptist Health System, a Texas-based community health service institution, licensed PeopleSoft's EPM solutions to streamline reporting, enable better and faster decision-making and improve performance through analysis of key operational data.

"PeopleSoft EPM provides the solid foundation of a comprehensive data warehouse to build on for strategic business analysis and planning," said Dennis S. Dewri, deputy information officer at Valley Baptist Health System. "By using the same performance indicators across all of our locations, we will be able to compare and analyze similar business processes at each facility to improve our operational efficiency and maximize our performance."

Faced with rising costs, lower investment returns and shrinking operating margins, healthcare organizations need effective performance management tools to better manage their budgets and streamline non-clinical processes. PeopleSoft expanded its EPM solution with the new Healthcare Scorecard containing healthcare-specific key performance indicators, which was announced earlier this month.

"We have seen increasing demand for healthcare analytics," said Tom Lindeman, vice president at Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, a PeopleSoft partner delivering consulting, implementation and training services in the healthcare industry. "Given the need for real-time information at the executive level, PeopleSoft EPM allows for an integrated view of strategic data that traditionally has been spread across multiple departmental silos, enabling executives to make informed decisions and quickly respond to changes in the business environment."

El Camino Hospital, a California-based full-service, acute-care community hospital, licensed PeopleSoft's EPM modules to improve visibility into its financial and human resources data. "PeopleSoft EPM will monitor the health of the organization, enabling managers to respond to issues and opportunities as they arise," said Don Briones, director of finance and corporate compliance at El Camino Hospital. "The solution will promote accountability because the information will be timely, accurate and readily available for our managers and executives when making important decisions."

"Healthcare organizations are often highly departmentalized, which makes proactive communication across units extremely difficult," said Jamie Wyatt, PeopleSoft global industry executive, healthcare. "Our EPM solutions, including our newly announced Healthcare Scorecard, provide enhanced analytic capabilities as well as standardized reporting to better align departmental and organizational goals for improved business performance."
