Metavante Announces Unicode Support with new release of CSFâ Designer

Does your company operate globally or serve a customer base with diverse language needs?  Leading corporations ranging from multi-national financial services firms to electric and gas utilities are being driven by customer preferences and government regulations to produce multi-lingual customer communications.  Whether adding new languages to an existing document, undertaking full redesigns, or entering new global markets, the Unicode support of CSFâ Designer Release 8.0 accelerate your time to market and reduce ongoing development and maintenance costs.

In the past, moving beyond single-byte languages such as English and Spanish to more complex languages such as Japanese and Chinese has required the use of code pages, either single-byte or double-byte, depending upon the language requirements.  However, none of these code pages covered all languages, limiting a document to those languages represented by the selected code page.  This legacy technology left businesses with confusing code page maintenance, multiple document designs, and even multiple production processes to address all customer segments.

CSFâ Designer Release 8.0 addresses these issues head-on with full Unicode support, allowing you to create documents consisting of both traditional single byte languages such as English, Spanish, and French, along with complex Asian character sets such as Chinese, Japanese and Korean.  The Designer Workstation and DesignerWeb applications extend Asian language design to both business and technical users using the ubiquitous Input Method Editor (IME), which comes standard with all Windows operating systems, as well as various USB enabled devices such as external writing pads.  Streamlining your operations, Designer 8.0 allows you to create a single design for all languages and institute a single production process for your print and electronic documents.

In addition to Unicode, CSFâ Designer Release 8.0 has many additional features, including:

·         Office Open XML Output:  Accelerate your interactive document efforts with Microsoft Word 2007 output delivery capabilities.  The Office Open XML driver delivers XML files that can be opened and modified with Microsoft Word 2007 for dynamically created documents such as correspondence and proposals.

·         Advanced Symbol Support:  Include special characters such as trademark and copyright registration symbols with advanced character support from the Unicode standard.

·         Advanced Data Occurrences:  Lower your integration costs and use your data input files in their native formats with complex data processing timings.

·         Merged Table Cells: Simplify your designs and reduce the overall number of tables.  Similar to Microsoft Excel, you can merge and split cells across columns, reducing the need for complex nested tables to achieve the sophisticated designs you desire.

·         Version Control Enhancements:  Lower your maintenance costs by allowing users to restore selected content to a specific folder in your design database.
