KODAK STACCATO CX Screening Enables Users to Configure Screen Settings for Diverse Printing Needs and Environments

DÜSSELDORF, GERMANY, May 30—Kodak showcases at drupa its groundbreaking KODAK STACCATO CX Screening and KODAK MAXTONE CX Screening Technologies. CX Technology enables users to configure MAXTONE AM and STACCATO FM screens to suit their printing environments.

Unique to Kodak, the CX Technology suite enables users to configure the highlight, midtone, and shadow dots of both AM and FM screens. This gives printers the flexibility to fine tune screens to suit their entire print production system and exploit the fullest capabilities of their platesetter, plates, press, and consumables.

Kodak redesigned the STACCATO Screening engine for KODAK PRINERGY Workflow System, Version 4 in 2007 and is now releasing user configurable functionality with STACCATO CX Screening Technology in PRINERGY, Version 5.

STACCATO and STACCATO CX Screening enable high fidelity, consistent presswork that exhibits fine detail without halftone rosettes, screening or subject moiré, gray level limitations, or abrupt jumps in tone. The configurability of STACCATO CX makes these benefits accessible to a wider range of printers and applications.

“MAXTONE Hybrid AM and STACCATO Hybrid FM Screening Solutions are being used with great success in commercial, publication, packaging, and newspaper environments today,” said Dan Blondal, Technology Manager, Print Quality, Enterprise Solutions, Kodak’s Graphic Communications Group. “CX gives users the ability to select slightly finer or slightly coarser MAXTONE and STACCATO Screen rulings than previously available, with the additional ability to configure the highlight and the shadow dot sizes. Initial response from Kodak users is very positive and we expect this feature to be a popular differentiator for our customers.”

STACCATO CX Screening is enabled by KODAK SQUARESPOT Thermal Imaging Heads, which provide unparalleled process stability by minimizing the impact of fluctuations in daily processing conditions. This makes fine screening, such as STACCATO Screening, a practical, reliable tool for today’s pressroom.
