Consolidated Graphics Boosts Performance and Drives New Business with KODAK PROSPER 5000XL Press

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Nov. 8—Consolidated Graphics, Inc. (NYSE: CGX), one of North America’s leading commercial printers with the world’s largest integrated digital printing footprint, has purchased a KODAK PROSPER 5000XL Press for its Automated Graphic Systems (AGS) facility in White Plains, Md. AGS is using the PROSPER Press to extend its technology leadership position in the market and provide full-color, on-demand publishing to its broad range of clients.

Consolidated Graphics installed the press in November 2010 as part of the PROSPER Press pioneer program and has been evaluating the device in a production environment with outstanding results. The PROSPER 5000XL Press joins the more than 30 KODAK NEXPRESS Digital Production Color Presses installed in multiple Consolidated Graphics companies to deliver versatile digital printing options from lower volumes to very high speed—all with high quality.

“High-volume, variable data, production inkjet printing technology is a key ingredient in our current and long-range plans, and the PROSPER 5000XL Press gives us the quality and productivity we need to move the business forward,” said Ric Davis, Executive Vice President, Purchasing and Operations, Consolidated Graphics. “We have been impressed with the performance and reliability of the press, and know that this is a smart investment for our company.”

Kodak is the worldwide market leader in color web inkjet presses. The KODAK PROSPER 5000XL Press brings offset class output approaching 175 lines per inch with roll-fed speeds of up to 650 feet (or 200 meters) per minute. The press features a monthly duty cycle of up to 90 million A4 pages and is able to handle both coated and uncoated papers, including gloss coated, with basis weights ranging from 45 gsm–300 gsm (30 lbs–200 lbs). This combination of speed and superior quality makes the PROSPER 5000XL Press one of the most productive inkjet web presses on the market for 8-, 12- and 16-page signatures.

AGS was selected to house the PROSPER Press installation due to its Washington, D.C. location and customer base, which is primarily composed of trade associations and educational institutions.
