Industry Leaders to Speak at INTERQUEST 2011 Digital Printing in Government and Higher Education Forum

Charlottesville, VA (November 18, 2011)—INTERQUEST, a leading market and technology research and consulting firm in digital printing and publishing, today announced an impressive lineup of speakers for its annual Digital Printing in Government and Higher Education Forum. The seminar, which is free for government and higher education professionals, will take place in Washington D.C. on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Omni Shoreham Hotel.

William J. Boarman, Chief Executive Officer, U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO), will keynote the sixth edition of this powerful annual event. He will provide an update on the developments that are enabling the GPO to accelerate its transformation into a 21st century information organization.

Following the keynote address, Gilles Biscos, President of INTERQUEST, will present an analysis of key trends in the publishing, print-on-demand, transactional, and graphic arts markets. He will explore recent technological and market developments, discuss the impact of the latest vendor announcements, and examine future changes along with the synergy between printed and electronic communication.

The last morning session will feature leading users who will present how to leverage new digital printing technology to improve productivity, reduce cost, and enhance the documents produced by in-house organizations. Speakers will include Shawn P. Magill, Director of Strategy & Development, Defense Logistics Agency's (DLA) Document Services Headquarters; and Jane Bloodworth, Former Manager, General Service Department's Printing, Graphics and Map Design Unit, the World Bank.

After lunch, a "Leading Vendors Strategies Panel" will kick off the afternoon portion of the program. Speakers will include Eric Rahman, Vice President, Public Sector & Enterprise Business, Eastman Kodak; Blake McMahan, Business Development North America, Indigo & Inkjet Solutions, Hewlett-Packard; and John McGrorty, Production Color Director, Eastern Operations, Xerox. The speakers will provide updates on their companies and strategies in the government and higher education markets.

Toby Cobrin, Director at INTERQUEST, will then present key results from her firm's recent research in the government and higher education environments. The presentation will be followed by a panel of management representatives from leading in-house print/publishing operations and industry experts, who will discuss digital printing opportunities in government and higher education. They will also discuss key challenges for print professionals in these two environments and offer suggestions/recommendations. Speakers will include Leslie Rutledge, Director of Graphic Services, Brown University; and Robert C. Tapella, 25th Public Printer of The United States.

The seminar is sponsored by leading industry players, including Canon/Océ, Epson, Hewlett-Packard, Kodak, MGI and Xerox, with additional support from the Federal Electronic Document Systems Association (FEDS), the Association of College and University Mail Services (ACUMS), the Franklin Technical Society (FTS), the Interagency Council on Printing & Publications Services (ICPPS), the National Association of College and University Mail Services (NACUMS), Xplor Mid Atlantic Region (MAR), and In-Plant Graphics.

The event is targeted at government and higher education users, including publishing and graphic services, in-plants and CRDs, print and mail services, IT/data center operations, purchasing and procurement departments, and communications professionals, as well as service providers.
