Newly expanded HP Graphic Arts Capture program, new digital presses shown for the first time at an a U.S. trade show in booth #1229

CHICAGO, September 10, 2007—HP today announced that it is showing a full range of new digital solutions from its industry-leading portfolio of graphic arts technologies at Graph Expo, emphasizing the unique advantages that empower print service providers (PSPs), creatives and other graphic arts professionals to Do More, Do it Differently and Do it Better. HP's booth, #1229 at Graph Expo, Sept. 9-12 in the McCormick Place Convention Center, is a world come to life through digital printing and includes more than 17,600 sq. ft. of exhibit space arranged into neighborhoods incorporating a full range of HP technologies. The "City Center" of the booth includes a Gallery exhibit of prints from photographer and guitarist Andy Summers, as well as the Capture Café – a community-focused area highlighting the new comprehensive and expanded business development services for PSPs available only through the HP Graphic Arts Capture Business Success program.

"This is the first Graph Expo where our HP Indigo, HP Designjet and HP Scitex solutions are presented together in a single location. The HP booth experience this year does a wonderful job of demonstrating the greater value HP offers to customers," said Rich Raimondi, vice president and general manager, U.S. Graphic Arts Organization, HP. "The solutions on display provide the most effective way for businesses to build their digital difference, exceed their customers' expectations and achieve greater business growth and financial success."

HP upgraded significant portions of its portfolio in the second half of 2007, and Graph Expo will represent the first U.S. showing of many of these technologies at a major industry trade show. New HP solutions on display include:

  • The new flagship HP digital press, the HP Indigo press 5500 , which expands productivity and profit potential through its enhanced compatibility with economical, off-the-shelf media, its on-press fast ink replacement of spot colors and new high-definition digital printing in resolutions up to 1,200 dots per inch.
  • The HP Indigo press 3500 , a new digital production device available at an entry-level price that provides greater quality and versatility for those looking to adopt digital technology for the first time or to upgrade from color copier technologies.
  • The new HP Indigo Commercial Job Estimator (CJE)/Business Planner, version 2.0 – a Capture Business Success offering that will be shown for the first time at Graph Expo – which now includes job costing tools for spot colors, one- and two-color work, multiple presses and other scenarios.

A greater commitment to customers through increased Capture offerings
Building on the success of its HP Indigo Capture Program, HP has launched an expanded
HP Graphic Arts Capture Business Success program . Designed for HP Indigo-equipped PSPs interested in expanding their digital printing profit opportunities with HP Designjet and HP Scitex large- and super-wide-format solutions, the HP Graphic Arts Capture Business Success Program reinforces the company's commitment to helping customers grow their businesses.

HP Graphic Arts Capture Business Success provides customers with a collection of tools, training and programs – including job estimators, market research, marketing templates and online resources. People and communities – such as HP Business Consultants and the Digital Solutions Cooperative users group – are a central part of HP Graphic Arts Capture Business Success. And now, HP Graphic Arts Capture Business Success also includes the HP Designjet profit calculator, HP Scitex Quick ROI and job costing tools, locator guides for large-format media, vertical market overviews for large-format applications and other new features.

One of the newest software elements in the HP Graphic Arts Capture Business Success program is the new HP Indigo CJE/Business Planner, version 2.0. This tool calculates job costs for digital and conventional presses to aid production decisions and maximize profitability. Version 2.0, shown for the first time at Graph Expo, offers a number of improvements, giving HP Indigo users the new capabilities to calculate costs for one- and two-color jobs and other work involving spot colors. The enhanced software also compares multiple HP Indigo presses to multiple offset presses and uses pre-set comparative information for a wider range of offset devices.

The addition of the latest HP Indigo CJE/Business Planner to the market information and reliable costing data available from the HP Graphic Arts Capture Business Success program gives PSPs the tools needed to start and/or rapidly grow a digital printing operation based on maximum productivity and profit opportunity.

Digital press and large-format printer support for new Pantone Goe System
HP is also announcing at Graph Expo its support for the new Pantone Goe System palette announced by Pantone Inc. The HP Indigo and HP Designjet product lines are among the first technologies to support Pantone Goe. At Graph Expo, HP Indigo will present demonstration copies of its license pending Pantone Goe simulation swatch books. HP Indigo will integrate the new licensed Pantone Goe libraries in new digital front end releases planned through 2008. The HP Large-format Printing Division will integrate Pantone Goe libraries within the software developer kits HP makes available to third-party raster image processor developers.
