Digi-we-doo upgrades to HP Indigo 7500
Adelaide digital print company Digi-we-doo has recently ordered its fourth generation HP Indigo digital press, the new HP Indigo 7500. Director Mike Minahan talks about his motivation for the purchase and why the HP Indigo is the only digital print platform he’s prepared to put his company’s name on.
When Mike and his son Mark started Digi-we-doo 22 years ago the company specialised in pre-press and high-end scanning, but as that market started to shift due to technological advancements the pair turned their attention to digital printing. Today Digi-we-doo is a market leader in the field producing a range of high-end printed collateral for advertising agencies and graphic designers as well as a volume of short run books and also photobooks.
“The short run book market is providing us with steady growth and we are now able to produce everything in-house including hard covers which makes an enormous difference to turnaround times.”
Digi-we-doo is built on the philosophy of employing the most advanced technology available to get the job done hence its decision to upgrade to the HP Indigo 7500, which Mike describes as “the most technologically advanced sheetfed digital press on the market. This press together with our existing HP Indigo 5000 will give us the capacity and quality to deliver our customers the best that print can offer”.
Mike believes the HP Indigo is the “best digital press on the market. HP Indigo gives you that wonderful ink tradition of high quality offset-like finishing and the amazing flexibility of digital. I’d confidently put any of our HP Indigo print jobs up against those printed on other digital presses because I know ours will come out on top”.
Working with the latest technology has been a hallmark of Digi-we-doo’s evolution. It was the first company to install the E-Print Indigo in Adelaide back in 2000, before HP bought the brand. Since then the technological advancements under HP’s direction have made the HP Indigo a leader in its field, a distinction that has enabled Digi-we-doo to also realise solid growth in a highly competitive field. Since its original Indigo the company has operated an Indigo 3000, 5000, and 7000.
Positioning itself at the forefront of the industry, Digi-we-doo invests in its staff as well as its equipment and is about to send its senior press operator to Singapore for training at the HP Centre for Excellence. Plus the company has achieved ISO:9001 Quality Management accreditation, all of which is part of the Minahan’s approach to business.
“Our slogan is ‘Printing Beyond Your Imagination’. Many of our clients are creative agencies who are looking for new ideas and ways to promote their own clients’ products and this puts us on our metal all the time. The versatility of the HP Indigo platform and new developments like white ink enables us to show our clients new concepts in digital print and to keep our offer fresh.”
Being able to offer new products due to the versatility of the HP Indigo platform also enabled Digi-we-doo to get through the GFC says Mike. “Introducing new products, methods of production and employing new technology has helped us to survive this fairly awful economic situation, which is now starting to move in the right direction”.
In conclusion Mike says, “We are very client driven and focused on helping our customers to grow their businesses because we are nothing without successful clients”.
