Compart is offering a new release of DocBridge Pilot

Dynamic handler concept and template-based processing simplify configuration and boost performance

Böblingen, September 9, 2011 – DocBridge Pilot, the platform-independent software for target-group-specific and postage-optimized creation and output of document mailings, has been enhanced with new features. The new release, 2.12, is available immediately. At the core of the innovation is template-based processing to define typical document processing workflows. The templates contain pre-defined, finished processes that are very easy to customize. This allows even the business user to map output management processes using DocBridge Pilot.
Until now, it was possible to configure the software only using default sample scenarios within DocBridge Profiler, a fairly complex matter especially for business users since just a few general functionalities were defined.

Freely configurable handlers boost performance

Yet another innovation -- In the new release, the previously defined processing steps have been replaced by a more dynamic model. The model is based on handlers that can be flexibly linked to configure the processes. The advantage: It is easier to add customer-specific functionalities to the workflows provided without having to change or redefine the whole process. This configuration flexibility allows a company to define precisely the process it needs; superfluous functions can be omitted, therefore increasing overall processing performance. In version 2.12, optimization is initially replaced by these configurable handlers.
Improved logging of actions has also been added. Every log message is now displayed with an individual message code that references detailed information on the given action. These are included in a reference manual, making it much quicker to find out where and why an error occurred. Furthermore, target searches for log messages are possible using a filter right on the Web interface of DocBridge Pilot. The software has a separate viewer to display the results in the browser window.

The perfect mailing for every output channel

DocBridge Pilot software is scalable and industry-independent, creating customized mailings for every type of output: print, e-mail, fax, archive file, download-file in Web portals. It is also possible to output a document as an E-Postbrief. The import of documents to be processed is kept separate from the output of the mailing. The software copies the data from a document and converts it while retaining the formatting. At this stage, the document can be modified, distributed, classified, indexed, and converted into all the standard formats-whatever is required. This enables documents to be displayed, printed, archived and processed accordingly. The information needed for this process is extracted as metadata. While the software assigns the documents to a central mailing pool, the metadata is stored in a relational database. A printer driver installed on the PC clients allows users to also save office documents in the same mailing pool and continue processing them centrally.

Documents are retrieved automatically

Then there are the different functions for outputting the documents, such as sorting, converting to the desired format, or "enhancing" pages with additional information for continued processing. Examples include the addition of advertising flyers and instructions for downstream enveloping. It is also possible to bundle multiple documents from different sources and in different formats but destined for the same recipient. Depending on the software configuration, this task can be done completely automatically or initiated at some definable point in time. The advantage is that the software takes into account the permissible weight limit for a particular postal rate when it generates the mailings. Overall postal charges can be optimized in this way. Major banks, insurance companies and telecommunications service providers all use DocBridge Pilot, including the ROLAND Group, a specialist in legal protection coverage.
