Canon ScanFront 220e Adds eCopy Document Imaging Software to Connect Paper with Essential Business Processes

eCopy Document Imaging Helps Integrate Document Scanning with Business Applications and Workflows on the Canon ScanFront 220e

Lake Success, N.Y., and Nashua, N.H., February 13, 2008 – eCopy Inc., a leading provider of solutions that integrate paper documents into business software applications, and Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leading provider of digital imaging solutions, today announced that eCopy’s document imaging software will be available on Canon ScanFront 220e network scanners, helping to improve access to essential information and increase workgroup productivity.

Under an OEM relationship, Canon will embed eCopy ShareScan Essentials™ software on Canon ScanFront, a compact, standalone network scanner. This agreement builds on the long-standing business partnership between the two companies. It allows organizations to adopt a universal software platform for document imaging across scanners and MFPs, providing a consistent user experience across every Canon device.

“Over the years, Canon and eCopy have had a great relationship, ” said Jim Rosetta, vice president and general manager, Canon U.S.A.. “eCopy’s easy-to-use and feature-rich document imaging software platform, combined with Canon’s advanced network scanning capability, will benefit our customers around the world by extending scanning into applications and workflows that run their businesses.”

ShareScan Essentials document imaging software is expandable, with plug-in application connectors to integrate with popular business applications and services including document management systems, e-mail, and fax servers. The Canon ScanFront 220e will initially be available with optional eCopy Connectors for Captaris RightFax, Interwoven, Microsoft SharePoint and eCopy Quick Connect to connect to any database or workflow application.

ScanFront is a compact, easy-to-use, and secure network scanner that provides high-quality scanning of up to 26 letter-sized pages per minute. Its sleek design includes a color touch-screen and customizable one-touch job buttons for simple operation, easy setup and remote management, and optional fingerprint authentication for additional security.

With ScanFront 220e, Canon customers can capture paper documents securely and distribute them as PDF files, improving group access to information. Users can scan to e-mail, fax, network folders and eCopy Desktop™, PC software that helps individuals work faster and more efficiently with scanned documents as PDF files. Users can e-mail scanned documents via Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Notes, accessing personal address books and global address lists at the ScanFront device. ScanFront 220e also includes authentication and encryption capabilities to ensure security and integrity of scanned documents while activity logging provides a complete audit trail.

“Expanding our Canon partnership is strategic to eCopy as we launch an initiative to target aggressively both the OEM business and rapidly growing network scanner market,” said Edward Schmid, President and CEO of eCopy. “We have already seen tremendous interest from our existing channels for the ScanFront device as they look to help customers connect paper-based information with business applications to boost productivity.”

The Canon ScanFront 220e device will be available through authorized Canon dealers, select distributors, and Canon resellers beginning in Q3 2008.
