Canon U.S.A. imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5000 Series Receives IEEE 2600.1 Common Criteria Certification

LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., August 16, 2011 – Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging, today announced that the Company’s imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5000 Series multifunction office systems have obtained Common Criteria Certification conforming to the IEEE 2600.1 standard.  The IEEE2600.1 standard is a Protection Profile for Hard Copy devices used in “Operational Environment A”, which is generally characterized as a restrictive commercial information processing environment in which a relatively high level of document security, operational accountability, and information assurance are required. Typical information processed in “Operational Environment A” is trade secret, mission-critical, or subject to legal and regulatory considerations such as for privacy or governance.

“Canon U.S.A. is pleased to receive IEEE 2600.1 Common Criteria Certification, for the imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5000 MFP Series,” said Sam Yoshida, vice president and general manager, Canon U.S.A.  “Canon’s participation in the IEEE P2600 Working Group and this related Certification reflects our commitment to offering comprehensive security solutions and technology for multifunctional devices and printers that assist in mitigating potential information and data security threats.”

Given the common controller architecture used by Canon’s imageRUNNER ADVANCE devices, the imageRUNNER ADVANCE C9000 PRO/C7000/8000/6000 Series models are also Compliant with the IEEE 2600.1 standard, when equipped with the necessary accessories, along with the specific installation and configuration requirements.
