Australia's Finance Leader Suncorp Leverages Inventive Designers' Scriptura to Implement Innovative Document Strategy

Australia’s finance leader Suncorp leverages Inventive Designers’ Scriptura to implement innovative document strategy

Brisbane/Antwerp, 19 January 2006 – Suncorp, one of Australia's leaders in banking, insurance and wealth management has chosen Inventive Designers’ technology for a strategic communication project. Scriptura, a leading enterprise personalisation solution will be deployed as the key component of a new document management system, centralising and automating Suncorp’s full business output – estimated at over 100 million documents a year. This is again a significant contract for Inventive Designers in the international financial industry.

Suncorp is Australia's 6th largest bank and 4th biggest general insurance group. The group ended its last fiscal year with net profits of more than AUS$ 955 million, employing around 8500 people in Australia today. Each year, Suncorp creates and publishes over one hundred million documents, such as statements, account information, financial product brochures, ‘on demand’ communication, transaction confirmations, policies and other financial documents. As a leading financial institution, Suncorp highly values automation, and depends on a streamlined IT infrastructure. The implementation of a new document management system was a strategic step for Suncorp.

Until now, Suncorp was using multiple systems for document creation and publication. Historically, the various departments and sub departments had developed their own IT-infrastructure and systems. Moreover, Suncorp has been acquiring other companies and organisations over the last couple of years, resulting in a heterogeneous IT environment for document creation, management and publication. This not only meant additional costs and extra resources but also implied that not all functions of a document system were available for other applications to use.

Suncorp’s prestigious new document generation project will provide the capability to centralize all document output in one IT platform. The cornerstone of this new system is Inventive Designers’ Scriptura solution. The software solution allows for quick and easy design, management and multi-channel output (internet, print, e-mail, fax and archive) of documents and dynamic templates.

Suncorp chose Scriptura based on a number of factors. First of all, Suncorp opted resolutely for a future-proof solution based on open standards. The combination of multiple output formats and a powerful WYSIWYG designer was very convincing. Finally, guaranteed 24x7 support by Inventive Designers was an important argument for a mission critical application.

By employing Scriptura, Suncorp has made savings by reducing overhead of support and maintenance of multiple document generation systems. Moreover, a single document system makes sharing of information across the organisation more efficient. Last but not least, Suncorp is able to save costs and improve customer satisfaction through electronic delivery of information.

In November 2005, Suncorp completed the first phase of the project. The full migration of the most critical enterprise applications will be spread over a number of years.   Next to technology, Inventive Designers also provides intensive product training at Suncorp.

Financial institutions cope with the same challenges around the world: improving customer relations while reducing costs at the same time,” said Guy Dehond, CEO of Inventive Designers. “We are extremely pleased that a leading financial player such as Suncorp has chosen our solution to revamp their communication approach. We offer Suncorp the chance to take advantage of an innovative document strategy and the newest technologies, without the need to replace their legacy systems. The added value a large enterprise like Suncorp is able to get out of this solution, is invaluable. The contract proves that we are a global player in the output industry.”
