Using QR To Identify The Tech Savy
By Joe Barber, Chief QR Officer at the CodeZQR division of Computer Output Print & Internet (COPI)
Robin Feiner is a senior creative in the Australian advertising industry who has worked at some of Australia's and New Zealand's most respected agencies and is now consulting to a host of agencies: JWT Melbourne, GPYR, Clemenger BBDO, Brave, DDB, Droga5, Three Drunk Monkeys, and most recently, Banjo.
One of his projects involves QR codes and the police. Here is his QR story:
We want you.
When the NSW Police Force wanted new recruits, we decided to use QR-Codes when most people in Australia hadn't even heard of them yet. This helped us reach a very specific type of candidate, and let us speak with them in a language only they understood. When the poster or print ad is photographed with a QR-Code enabled mobile phone... ... the code is deciphered: "We need tech-savvy new recruits like u. www.police.nsw.gov.au"
Your phone will then take you to the Police Force Recruitment website.
