Océ JetStream and the United Kingdom’s Polestar
Océ, an international leader in digital document management, said that Polestar became the first company in the United Kingdom last year to order the Océ JetStream 2200 continuous color machine.
The system was installed at Polestar Direct in the northern English city of Nottingham, forming the central part of a £4 million (approx. EUR 4 million) investment in digital technology for the company.
In addition, the investment program includes replacing another supplier’s cutsheet machines, which produced work onto preprinted stocks. This enables Polestar, one of the world’s larger printing companies, producing 42 million magazines and newspapers every week, to move to a white paper continuous feed system. Three existing Océ VarioStream 9210 continuous feed machines were upgraded to provide improved output and performance. One was converted to an Océ VarioStream 9240 to handle full color production. The order also included a new Océ VarioPrint 5160 sheetfed printer.
Bron Curley, Océ UK Managing Director:
“Ink and toner-based full color solution”
“We are seeing unprecedented levels of interest in the Océ JetStream family, which is taking color production to a new level, as Polestar will discover as the first UK user,” said Bron Curley, Océ UK managing director. “This investment, which includes upgrading the Océ 9210s, will provide an ink and toner-based full color solution to complement each other. And this will no doubt be a massive commercial advantage for Polestar and its clients going forward. By focusing on integration, operation and uptime, the Océ JetStream delivers significantly higher productivity than competing systems, and will also save costs in the long run. It’s also another example of where Océ is leading the industry by taking color printing beyond the ordinary.”
Polestar Chief Executive Barry Hibbert:
“Pleased to be investing in the UK’s first Océ JetStream”
“Whilst we have had digital technology in place for a number of years, including color, we are extremely pleased to be making this investment in the UK’s first Océ JetStream,” said Polestar Chief Executive Barry Hibbert. “The level of color reproduction is high, its performance speeds are advantageous and its options and flexibility meet both our current and future requirements in servicing our customers. We have had sufficient interest from the marketplace to justify this investment, which will ensure we are well-equipped going forward.”
