Xenos joins the US-based Association for Cooperative Operations Research and Development (ACORD), a global, non profit insurance association whose mission is to facilitate the development and use of standards for the insurance, reinsurance and related financial services industries.

Standards are sets of rules and guidelines that provide a common framework for communication. ACORD Standards allow different companies to transact business electronically with agents, brokers and other data partners in the insurance, reinsurance and related financial services industries. They serve as a common communication method for use by multiple parties, thereby increasing the efficiency of the entire industry. The implementation of standards-based solutions is an industry-wide strategy.

ACORD XML Standards enable these business benefits:

·         More choice for customers to decide how they want to receive services

·         Better service to distribution channels and customers at lower costs

·         Increased agent and customer loyalty

·         Rationalization of insurance carriers' technology investments for distribution channels to both independent agents across the Web and company agents via Extranets

Xenos has incorporated the ACORD XML standards into its software to benefit the insurance industry. XML is an open industry standard developed by the World Wide Web Consortium to facilitate the exchange of structured data between businesses and applications over the Internet.

"We are pleased that Xenos has joined ACORD, " said Ronald Dudley, Vice President, Standards of ACORD. "Xenos has clearly seen the value of incorporating the ACORD standards into its software and services, meeting the strategic requirements of insurance companies to support e-business and online customer self-service on the WEB."

Major enhancements have been made for e-business integration for .NET and Java-based web services, HTML documents, print-to-print applications, performance, color, and cross-platform enhanced PDF web presentment, fidelity and security.

A growing number of Xenos customers require flexible e-business solutions for scalable, dynamic web-based document presentation in PDF, HTML or XML. This latest version enables customers to easily integrate d2e Platform, using the new Xenos d2eCOM component with byte-streaming, for Windows applications in Microsoft IIS, .NET and Visual Basic environments. This complements the Xenos d2e Java API released in version 5.2.

Xenos d2e Platform v5.3 also addresses new requirements of the high-volume printing market. Xenos today announced the closing of the transaction to acquire the business assets of XML-Global Technologies, Inc. ("XML Global").

XML Global is a software developer and vendor of XML middleware products. Xenos has acquired XML Global's intellectual property, customer relationships, and operating assets and retains all employees.

The acquisition results in a combined entity that puts Xenos in a leadership position in bridging incompatible proprietary applications to open standards, without the need to rewrite software or make changes to computer applications. Using XML Global's technology and services, computer applications can be integrated rapidly and easily, for faster return on investment.

XML Global's GoXML™ eBusiness product line is a set of intuitive, modular solutions that provide a business integration framework for data transformation, communication and storage of structured data for e-business requirements. Written in Java, the XML Global products are a strategic set of technologies that position Xenos for scalable growth in new horizontal, vertical and geographic markets.

Systems integrators typically encounter a gap in solving "the last mile problem of data integration"-where data structures must be mapped in a repeatable way between dynamic data sources. Xenos is now able to solve that problem with the GoXML product line.

XML is playing a pivotal role in many business areas, particularly in business-to-business data sharing, content management and application-to-application integration. The business-to-business data sharing market is dominated by the use of proprietary EDI data formats. The migration from proprietary EDI data formats to open XML data formats creates a large market opportunity for GoXML. Instead of having to make expensive code changes when business requirements cause EDI record formats to change, organizations can use the visual GoXML mapping and business rule software tool to accommodate these changes quickly and externally to the EDI applications.

All of the XML Global employees have become Xenos employees and will remain working in the current Vancouver office.

December 9, 2003

Xenos today announced the formation of a healthcare solutions division. The mandate of Xenos Healthcare Informatics is to deliver the benefits of Xenos’ widely respected electronic data and document integration solutions to the healthcare sector.

Xenos’ solutions enable seamless communication between technologically incompatible clinical as well as administrative systems. The healthcare industry has developed silos of information not readily accessible to those who require it on a timely basis. Enabling seamless communication between hospitals, community services and physicians will not only reduce healthcare costs and eliminate unnecessary activities but will make a positive contribution to the care of the patient. For example, according to industry commentators, a more timely electronic distribution of the Patient Discharge Summary will lead to better after-care outcomes.

Xenos has identified over a dozen specific integration solutions aimed at the Healthcare Sector.

Among the Solutions that Xenos has already delivered:

·         Connecting a patient record system with an electronic archive to eliminate manual scanning and indexing of paper records by hospital staff.

·         Providing a regional healthcare system with secure electronic medical record transmission for timely access by physicians and pharmacies.

·         Converting a paper-based invoicing system to an electronic delivery solution for both internal users and customers.

·         Delivering medical records in HL7 format from any current output format.

These solutions, along with others offered by Xenos, are focused on addressing healthcare productivity, compliance with privacy legislation and cost savings.

A typical Xenos solution delivers a tremendous return on investment. Information and communication technology integration will result in cost savings and increased operating efficiencies and will not represent a net burden to the Healthcare System.

Xenos currently has in excess of twenty Healthcare customers including Blue Cross/Blue Shields, hospitals, regional healthcare authorities, pharmaceutical companies, health insurance and payer enterprises.

Xenos healthcare solutions will be exhibited at the following events:

·         Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA) Summit Conference in Baltimore, Maryland on September 12-14, 2004. The HIPAA conference brings together leading healthcare companies seeking solutions to compliance and technology issues arising from the mandated need to implement the provisions of HIPAA.

·         Ontario Hospital Association’s HealthAchieve2004 Conference in Toronto, Canada on November 15-16, 2004. This event attracts over 8,000 healthcare professionals.

·         As a member of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), Xenos will be exhibiting at the Annual HIMSS 2005 conference in Dallas, Texas on February 13-17, 2005. The annual HIMSS conference attracts over 20,000 healthcare professionals.

Xenos will manage the integration of this system, which will intelligently transfer and route HL7 Radiology patients’ reports to their respective physicians upon their discharge.

This new integration will provide Grey Bruce Health Services with an open and flexible architecture that solves the issue of information flowing automatically with the patient. This allows an integrated approach to sharing a patient’s medical record and improves the information between the hospital and clinics.

“Our physicians are extremely important to us and it is important we continue to improve our communication with them and improve their ability to deliver world-class patient care,” said Rob Croft, Corporate Director, Systems Integration, Grey Bruce Health Services. “The Xenos GoXML integrated solution will allow us to deliver this information quickly and gives us a foundation to build upon, and further improve, our delivery of information.”
