QR Applications - Transpromo Transformation

By Joe Barber, Chief QR Officer at the CodeZQR division of Computer Output Print & Internet (COPI)

As I am talking with people around the world about QR codes in one-to-one communications I am often asked, “What are the different types of applications for QR Codes?”  This is the second in a series of articles looking at the different ways QR codes are used in one-to-one communications to leverage a company’s knowledge of their recipients to improve the recipient’s experience.

People often think of transpromo as simply the placement of promotional messages on transactional documents for the purpose of selling other products or services.  Simply looking at transpromo in this way really sells it short.

One thing that any communication piece can and should be used for is gathering a greater understanding about a recipient and their interests.  This type of information is essential to improving the relevance and value of future messaging.

So instead of strictly placing product promotions or educational messages on transpromo documents, marketers need to start to develop messages that solicit input and feedback from a recipient.  Polls are a good example of this.  We have all seen TV shows or sporting events where we are asked to text in a vote.  Then later in the show we are usually shown the results.

Why not use this same tool on transpromo statements and make it accessible with CodeZ QR.  The QR Code can link the recipient to a mobile website with a simple poll for them to complete.  Once they have completed the poll you have the opportunity to engage them in further conversation and gather additional information.  You can make them special offers in appreciation for their participation.

Each response you are able to elicit gives more insight and because you used CodeZ QR you know precisely what originally piqued their interest.  All of this information once again can be used to refine future messaging.

When designing your transpromo messaging always ask yourself, what more would I like to learn about my recipients in order to put more relevant offers in front of them in the future.  Then remember that the web is an excellent tool to gather this information and CodeZ QR is the perfect tool to move them from the printed document to the web.

Email me with your ideas for other ways to gather additional understanding of recipients through transpromo messaging.
