2D Codes for Direct Mail

By Fraser Ross

Question – How well does 2D work for direct mail?

Answer – If your company does a lot of mail marketing, or if you are in the direct mail, remittance processing environment or fulfillment business, 2D codes have a variety of applications that will save you vast amounts of time and money.

You are probably aware of the new generation of intelligent inserters. The new machines are capable of handling 2D codes, allowing you to add a great amount of information to the same symbol that handles the insertion process.

  • The additional capacity of a 2D symbol with a very small footprint give you flexibility to add:
  • Personal information that can be used to target specific types of customers.
  • Information on specific demographics to improve direct mail targeting
  • Codes that will identify the favored customers for additional offers.
  • Remittance information allowing you to scan incoming mail automatically to eliminate re-typing information.
  • Information allowing for speedy re-prints.

Any of these promise to eliminate errors and speed up processing thereby saving you money quickly and easily.

I would live to hear your ideas on how you imagine this exciting technology might help your company. Please feel free to send me your thoughts.
