2D Codes Provide Marketplace Advantages

Question – How can a 2D code help my business?

Answer – Many of the questions I see involve how 2D codes work and how they might be implemented. More recently I have discussed the advantages of using 2D codes to verify documents and to secure information contained in those documents.

There are, of course, many different applications that can positively affect the bottom line of your organization in a number of ways.

If you are in a business that requires remittance processing, a small, unobtrusive 2D code on the document can contain hundreds of bytes of information. This information can be easily scanned and stored in a database of your choosing. Companies can then use this information to identify customers or locations for special handling or special offers.

For remittance processing, a 2D code can contain much more information than traditional OCR lines, can place them anywhere on the page, and scan them with a much higher accuracy rate, and much reduced error rate. This can speed up the process dramatically.

For direct mail fulfillment, return documents can contain all pertinent customer information and can eliminate re-keying of this information. The time savings for this can be huge.

In the printing process, misprints can be scanned, saved and stored for later re-print easily and quickly. The time savings by eliminating print-file skipping could save time and labor as well as the need to get documents out of the door quickly.

As you can see, 2D codes can be an invaluable tool in many areas, and giving you, in return, the potential for enormous savings in time and money.

I would live to hear your ideas on how you imagine this exciting technology might help your company. Please feel free to send me your thoughts.
