Increase Transpromo ROI with Distributed Document Editing

By Denise Davert, Elixir

There are two obvious factors in calculating transpromo ROI; increased sales and customer loyalty.

A third element is the document development and editing process because, if not done properly, it has the potential to reduce the overall success of a transpromo initiative.

If you want to maximize the ROI on transpromo then focus equally on the applications and workflow used to create the customized documents. Traditionally applications that enable transpromo are IT-centric. Although robust in the type of document they can produce, the applications often have these two major issues that affect transpromo ROI:

-      Single Expensive Development Cycle
Historically the workflow is centered on expensive development resources for even minor edits. This group is often overloaded with projects meaning that the time to get the document to print could be lengthy.

-      Cumbersome for Others to Contribute
An effective transpromo document is the result of work done throughout the organization. A stand-alone software application that is not connected to the larger workflow causes challenges for other departments such as marketing (for the promotional information), customer support (who could provide helpful support-related messages), and the creative group (the only ones who should be messing with the logo!)

Lengthy edit cycles require the document revision process begin far in advance of final distribution resulting in content that is out of date or at the very least not as timely as it could be for the recipient.  Distributing the business activities to the people who can most effectively do the work saves time, money, and makes for a more effective document when it’s finally delivered to the customer.

Each department brings expertise to a particular element of the project so any system that distributes the editing process directly to the responsible person will save time and costs.

Look for software solutions that allow individuals to focus on the business knowledge they bring to the process rather than requiring technical knowledge.

The more people you enable across the transpromo workflow the more you’ll be allowing them to spend their time of greatest benefit.
