Rules-Driven Business
Systems
Rules-driven business systems enable companies to model, deploy, and manage mission-critical business processes that span multiple applications, corporate departments, and business partners
-- behind the firewall and over the Internet. Rules-driven applications are able to change rapidly as business needs evolve, resulting in a more responsive and efficient enterprise, with reduced costs, improved customer service, and new revenue opportunities.
According to Gartner Research, business processes and applications now change so frequently that the business rules embedded in business process flows, applications, and
enterprise architecture must be accessible for modification and
change. Business rules engines will be used to reduce the cost of rapid change by 10%-15%, resulting in more than 50% of applications employing some form of business rules technology by 2010.
