Stewardship – Asia Pacific:
CEO’s Sleep Out Helps the Homeless
By Brett Dashwood, edp, OutputLinks
On June 18th 2009, Rodney Frost, CEO of Australia’s Cheque-Mates, was one of 220 CEOs, senior executives, and community leaders who roughed it by sleeping out at Sydney’s Luna Park in support of the homeless at the St Vincent de Paul Society 2009 CEO Sleepout.

Rodney Frost
Even though it was a very cold and wet night (remember June is middle of Winter down under) Rodney was in good company, with others including the Honourable Linda Burney MP, previous Australian of the Year, entrepreneur, businessman and aviator Dick Smith AO, and representatives from a wide variety of companies such as Clemenger, Fairfax Media, InterContinental Hotels, Gordon and Gotch, Pfizer, and United Group Limited, to name but a few.
“The night was a great eye opener to see what it is really like to be homeless. The only way to really understand is to get out there in the cold and the rain and do it yourself,” Frost said. He looks forward to being involved in this event for many years to come and hopes that both the number of CEOs and the funds raised continues to grow.
Shortly after the Sleepout, the amount raised was over $560,000; at writing, it has already reached $600,000 and is still climbing. A staggering achievement by all concerned.
I hope you all join with me and the St Vincent de Paul Society in thanking Rodney and the other CEOs involved for rising to the challenge of homelessness and showing their commitment to the cause.
If you would like to help Rodney in his final push to fundraise, please visit https://www.ceosleepout.org.au/donate/donate2/ceoId/793 and make a donation before August 31st 2009.
Well done Rodney!
