CPGID Parameter In ACIF

Question:

I use ACIF to build my AFPDS files, which consist of only the resource file and data file. I do not use the indexing feature  of ACIF. These functions are performed in both a Windows environment and a zOS environment. Is the CPGID parameter necessary when no indexing is done?

Answer:

If you are performing no indexing function in the construction of your AFPDS files, then the CPGID parameter is unnecessary. This parameter is used to determine the display language, of the index values, when viewed using tools such as the IBM Workbench Viewer. Since you are not using the index function, there is no need to add a value related only to indexing.
